Registered Veterinary Nurse (Multi-Discipline)

About the Role

This is a fantastic opportunity to grow as a multi-disciplinary RVN in a busy 24-hour veterinary hospital. You’ll work across a variety of surgical, medical, and primary care cases, with structured support to develop Schedule 3 nursing skills from dentistry through to advanced referral work in ophthalmology, orthopaedics, and endoscopy. You’ll even get your own nurse-led Schedule 3 operating days as you progress.

Based at Abbey House’s main hospital in Morley, you’ll work 40 hours per week over 4 days with one day off per week, sharing a 1:4 weekend rota. The hospital has a dedicated night team that supports out-of-hours cover for their own patients and neighbouring practices, giving you exposure to a wide range of cases while maintaining genuine work-life balance.

You’ll be part of a 6-clinic group across West Yorkshire, but the real magic is in the team culture: experienced RVNs who are passionate about clinical excellence, collaborative problem-solving, and fair rostering that actually works.

Key Responsibilities

• Deliver high-quality nursing care across a multi-disciplinary caseload (primary care, mid-tier referrals, surgical cases)
• Lead and manage Schedule 3 dentistry procedures, with progression toward advanced surgical nursing
• Rotate fairly through the hospital’s various specialisms—dental, surgical, ophthalmology, orthopaedics, endoscopy—developing expertise in areas that excite you
• Support the hospital’s dedicated night team on a shared 1:4 rota, nursing diverse patient types
• Work collaboratively with referral surgeons (including specialist surgical and ophthalmology staff) to deliver comprehensive patient care
• Contribute to a culture of clinical excellence, innovation, and peer support

Requirements

• RCVS registered veterinary nurse (RVN)
• Preferably 1+ years’ post-qualification experience
• Comfortable in a busy, varied practice with multiple case types
• Proactive learner who thrives on developing skills across all disciplines
• Collaborative team player with a passion for clinical excellence

Abbey House Vets is a 6-clinic group across West Yorkshire, with the main 24-hour hospital located in Morley. The practice sees both primary care patients and mid-tier referrals, with facilities including digital X-ray, ultrasound, endoscopy, a dedicated dental suite, and an intensive care unit with incubator. The team includes specialist surgical and ophthalmology referral surgeons, creating a genuinely multi-disciplinary environment.
