About the Role

Join Abbey Veterinary Group’s Greenock branch as a full-time Registered Veterinary Nurse in a friendly, RCVS-accredited mixed practice. This is a permanent position based at the Greenock surgery, working standard 40-hour weeks with no on-call duties—just 1 in 4 weekends (Saturday 8am–3pm, Sunday 9am–12:30pm). You’ll be part of a supportive network of vets, nurses, ACAs, and receptionists committed to excellent first opinion care.

The practice is well-equipped with two operating theatres, multi-parameter monitors, Karl Storz laparoscopy equipment for minimally invasive spays, a fully stocked lab with latest haematology and biochemistry analysers, ultrasound, digital radiography, and dedicated dental x-ray facilities. The team actively encourages personal growth and is keen to expand nurse-led clinics, welcoming candidates pursuing further qualifications.

Greenock itself is a historic riverside town with stunning views towards Loch Lomond and the Trossachs, excellent transport links to Glasgow (45 minutes by car), and easy access to coastal towns and beaches.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide post-operative care for medical and surgical patients
• Assist veterinarians in theatre and preparation areas
• Manage pharmacy ordering and stock control
• Care for isolation patients
• Conduct laboratory work
• Develop and deliver nurse-led consultation clinics (as the practice expands this service)

Requirements

• Current RCVS registration as a Veterinary Nurse
• Proactive and compassionate approach to patient and client care
• Willingness to engage in ongoing professional development
