This is your chance to start your veterinary career in a welcoming, supportive environment where learning is encouraged and mistakes are part of growth. You’ll be based primarily at the Halifax Road site, with occasional sessions at Abbey Lane, working a structured 40-hour week across three full days, two half days, and one Saturday in four (with a day off in lieu). Best of all: there’s no on-call requirement, so your evenings and nights are genuinely yours.
Abbeymoor Vets is located in vibrant Sheffield, with easy access to the Peak District for hiking, biking, and climbing, plus excellent shopping, cinemas, and a close motorway connection. The practice operates like a tight-knit family, with regular whole-practice meetings, dedicated clinical vet discussions, and a calendar full of team social nights. You’ll work alongside vets with specialist qualifications in medicine, surgery, and behaviour—all willing to share their knowledge.
The practice is equipped with digital X-ray and dental imaging, ultrasound with multiple probes, laparoscopic surgery capability, two operating theatres, a dedicated dental area, and in-house lab facilities. You’ll be supported through a structured graduate mentoring programme tailored to help you develop all the competencies needed for confident small animal practice.
Abbeymoor Veterinary Centre is a friendly, established small animal practice in Sheffield, part of the IVC Evidensia group (part of Mars Veterinary Health). The practice is built on strong principles of staff wellbeing and patient care, with a team that prides itself on being approachable, collaborative, and community-minded. They actively support local charities including Cat Ching and Yorkshire Poundies.
The practice is well-equipped for modern small animal medicine and surgery, with digital imaging, ultrasound, laparoscopic capabilities, and two operating theatres. The team includes three certificate holders across medicine, surgery, and behaviour, creating an environment where specialist knowledge is shared and junior vets are encouraged to develop beyond general practice. This is a place where your progression matters and your voice is heard.
