About the Role

Join Abercorn Vets as a Registered Veterinary Nurse for a temporary 6–12 month maternity cover position. This full-time role is based at the main practice on Portobello High Street in Edinburgh, with a manageable shift pattern that includes just one Saturday in six—no out-of-hours or bank holiday cover required. You’ll be an integral part of a clinical team that truly values nursing expertise and professional development.

The practice spans three branches across Edinburgh and operates a well-equipped main site with dental facilities, digital radiography, ultrasound, and in-house laboratory capabilities. Abercorn Vets holds both Silver Rabbit Welfare Accreditation and Silver Feline Friendly status, reflecting their commitment to high standards of care.

Key Responsibilities

• Deliver comprehensive nursing care including theatre support, inpatient management, and nurse-led consultations
• Work collaboratively within a team of 10 veterinary surgeons, 6 registered veterinary nurses, and 5 receptionists
• Contribute to smooth daily operations across the practice’s three locations
• Provide exceptional patient and client care in line with the practice’s accreditation standards
• Support clinical staff and assist where needed across all practice areas

Requirements

• Current Registered Veterinary Nurse status
• Clinical experience preferred; new graduates will be considered
• Conscientious, detail-oriented approach to patient care
• Ability to work collaboratively with the clinical team
• Enthusiasm for delivering excellent standards of care
