Registered Veterinary Nurse – General

About the Role

Aberdeen Veterinary Referrals is seeking a dedicated Registered Veterinary Nurse to join a thriving referral team in Kingswells. This is a full-time position (40 hours per week across a 1:4 Saturday rota) with no out-of-hours or on-call responsibilities, allowing you to enjoy genuine work-life balance while working with stimulating cases.

You’ll work alongside experienced veterinarians and support staff, playing an active role in advanced procedures including orthopaedic, neurology, and soft tissue cases, as well as medicine referrals. The practice is housed within a first opinion facility equipped with the latest diagnostic and treatment technology, and an exciting expansion is underway with plans for a new, purpose-built referrals practice featuring advanced theatres and consultation rooms. An onsite VetsNow partnership ensures continuous overnight patient care.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist with advanced surgical and medical procedures across orthopaedics, neurology, soft tissue, and general medicine cases
• Perform Schedule 3 nursing tasks within the referral setting
• Provide high-standard pre- and post-operative patient care
• Support diagnostic procedures using advanced veterinary technology
• Contribute to a collaborative team environment focused on compassionate patient and owner care
• Engage in professional development and pursue relevant nursing certificates

Requirements

• Current RCVS registration as a Veterinary Nurse
• Positive, enthusiastic approach to patient care and teamwork
• Strong interpersonal skills and proactive learning mindset
• Experience in referral nursing is valued but not essential—the team welcomes both experienced referral nurses and those new to the specialty
