Veterinary Receptionist

About the Role

Abington Park Vets is seeking a friendly and approachable Veterinary Receptionist to join their expanding team in picturesque Northamptonshire. As the first point of contact for clients and their pets, you’ll play a vital role in creating welcoming, positive experiences that set the tone for every visit. This is a part-time permanent role working 25 hours per week with full flexibility around opening times—including Saturday shifts covered by time in lieu during the week, so you’re never locked into an inflexible rota.

The practice is well-resourced with 13 Veterinary Surgeons (majority certificate holders), 18 Registered Veterinary Nurses, 4 Student Veterinary Nurses, 4 Kennel Assistants, and a Lab Technician. You’ll be joining a supportive, established team in a location with excellent links to London and Birmingham, plus abundant sporting, recreational, and cultural activities on your doorstep.

Key Responsibilities

• Liaising with clients and clinical staff to deliver high-quality customer care
• Meeting, greeting, and welcoming clients and pets warmly
• Booking appointments and managing the practice diary efficiently
• Handling telephone and email enquiries promptly and professionally
• Processing payments for services and products
• Managing cash handling and end-of-day banking procedures
• Maintaining a clean, safe, and welcoming environment for clients and their pets

Requirements

• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
• A warm, compassionate demeanour and genuine passion for customer service
• Ability to multitask efficiently in a busy environment
• Reliable, organised, and detail-oriented approach to work
• Previous reception experience is desirable but not essential—full training will be provided
