About the Role

This is a permanent opportunity (or fixed-term maternity cover if preferred) to join Active Vetcare’s Oakley practice in Caversham, a friendly and professional first opinion clinic. You’ll work alongside a collaborative team of vets, nurses, patient care assistants, and receptionists in a warm, supportive atmosphere where honesty and knowledge-sharing are central to how the practice operates.

The practice operates across two sites—Oakley and Sonning Common—and prioritises high clinical standards and continuing professional development. Working hours are flexible to suit you: full-time, part-time, or term-time options are available, reflecting the practice’s commitment to genuine work-life balance.

Based in Caversham, Reading, you’ll benefit from excellent commutability to Pangbourne, Thatcham, Newbury, Wallingford, Basingstoke, Wokingham, Bracknell, Henley-on-Thames, and surrounding areas across Berkshire, Oxfordshire, and Buckinghamshire.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver high-quality first opinion small animal veterinary care
  • Work collaboratively with the multi-disciplinary team at Oakley and Sonning Common practices
  • Contribute to a knowledge-sharing culture and support team development
  • Pursue professional certifications with practice support (current team members have completed or are studying cardiology, acupuncture, soft tissue surgery, and emergency & critical medicine)
  • Maintain transparent, professional relationships with clients and colleagues

Requirements

  • Qualified veterinary surgeon (RCVS registered)
  • Strong commitment to high clinical standards
  • Collaborative approach and genuine interest in team development
  • Willingness to engage in continuous professional learning
