About the Role

This is a full-time senior nursing leadership position at Alma Veterinary Hospital, a growing first-opinion practice in Windsor committed to becoming one of the country’s top small animal clinics. You’ll work alongside the Head Vet and Practice Manager, driving the nursing vision and ensuring the team delivers exceptional patient and client care. The role offers genuine flexibility—38 hours per week across 4 or 5 days, with shifts between 8:00am and 7:00pm. Occasional night shift cover may be required to support wider practice needs.

This isn’t just about managing rotas and compliance (though you’ll do plenty of both). You’ll be shaping culture, mentoring a capable nursing team, and playing a key role in how the practice operates and grows. It’s leadership with clinical impact.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage the nursing team to maintain high standards of patient and client care across all areas
  • Set and maintain nursing standards, ensuring compliance with clinical, regulatory, and health & safety requirements
  • Lead clinical governance and quality improvement initiatives within the nursing team
  • Oversee rota planning, staffing levels, and day-to-day team coordination
  • Mentor, train, and develop nursing staff, supporting their professional growth and confidence
  • Manage staff performance and drive a positive, collaborative team environment
  • Oversee inventory, equipment, and stock control to support efficient practice operations
  • Work closely with the Head Vet and Practice Manager to deliver the practice vision and improve clinical workflows
  • Drive nurse-led consultations and lead their development across the practice

Requirements

  • RCVS Registration as a Veterinary Nurse (essential)
  • Significant experience in small animal clinical practice with advanced medical and surgical nursing skills
  • Proven experience leading, mentoring, and developing nursing teams
  • Strong understanding of clinical governance, quality improvement, and professional standards
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and organisational skills
  • Confidence and competence in a senior clinical and management role
