About the Role

This is a full-time position working Monday to Friday, 9:30 am to 6:30 pm (40 hours per week with a 1-hour unpaid lunch break). You’ll be joining Alphavet Veterinary Centre in Langstone, Newport—a well-equipped practice that’s been delivering quality small animal care since 1996. As an Animal Nursing Assistant, you’ll work under the direction of veterinary surgeons and registered veterinary nurses, supporting the clinical team in delivering compassionate patient care and maintaining the smooth, safe running of the practice. This hands-on role gives you direct experience in animal nursing, client interaction, and clinical support—perfect for anyone considering progression into a Student Veterinary Nurse role.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist with inpatient care and patient handling under supervision
  • Support clinical and reception team members with day-to-day tasks
  • Maintain high standards of cleanliness in clinical areas and ensure equipment is properly managed
  • Help create a positive and compassionate experience for patients and clients
  • Contribute to the smooth, safe operation of the practice environment
