About the Role

Anderson Moores Veterinary Specialists is seeking a skilled Veterinary Anaesthetist to join a specialist team delivering anaesthesia and pain management across medical and surgical cases. You’ll work alongside three ECVAA diplomates and two ECVAA residents in a supportive, collaborative environment with a particular interest in chronic pain management. This part-time role offers three days per week with flexible scheduling—rare flexibility for a position of this calibre.

The practice operates as a 24/7 referral hospital just south of Winchester in rural Hampshire, with excellent transport links via the M3. You’ll work within a modern, well-equipped facility and share on-call duties (1:4 weekends and one night per week), creating a genuinely sustainable work-life balance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide anaesthesia and analgesia for the medical and surgical caseload across the referral practice
  • Collaborate with specialists in orthopaedic surgery, soft tissue surgery, neurology, internal medicine, cardiology, dentistry, dermatology, oncology and diagnostic imaging
  • Contribute to chronic pain management protocols and develop clinical expertise within the team
  • Participate in shared on-call rota (1:4 weekends, one night per week)
  • Engage with clinical training and professional development programmes
  • Work with a team of dedicated vets, nurses and support staff delivering high-standard patient care

Requirements

  • MRCVS and eligible to work in the UK
  • Board certification or eligibility in Veterinary Anaesthesia and Analgesia (ACVAA, ECVAA or equivalent)
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work effectively within a team-oriented, collaborative environment
  • Commitment to high-quality patient care

About the Practice

Anderson Moores Veterinary Specialists is one of the UK’s leading small animal referral hospitals, established in 2006. Following joining Linnaeus and Mars Veterinary Health in 2022, the practice continues to specialise in orthopaedic surgery, soft tissue surgery, neurology and neurosurgery, internal medicine, dentistry, cardiology, anaesthesia, dermatology, diagnostic imaging, oncology and physiotherapy. The practice accepts referrals from veterinary surgeons across the region and beyond.

The team includes nationally and internationally recognised specialists supported by dedicated nurses, nursing assistants and administrative staff. Facilities include an on-site MRI (Phillips 1.5T), 64-slice CT scanner (Siemens Somatom Perspective), two ultrasound machines (GE S8 and S7), fluoroscopy (Philips Zenition 50) and digital radiography systems. Located in serene countryside south of Winchester with easy access to national transport links, the practice operates 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
