Light Saturday rota work only; no overnight on-call or out-of-hours duties required.

About the Role

Animal Ark Vets in Goodmayes/Ilford is returning to independent, vet-run ownership—and they’re looking for a proactive Veterinary Surgeon to join their experienced team. This is a full-time position with a genuinely manageable 4-day working week and only light Saturday rota support (no overnight on-call duties), making it ideal if work-life balance is a priority.

You’ll be working from a large hospital site with excellent transport links, supported every step of the way by experienced RVNs and support staff who are invested in your success. The practice is backed by a broader independent group with certificate-holding vets specialising in soft tissue surgery, orthopaedics, ophthalmology, neurology, dermatology, exotics, oncology and more—all available for case discussion and clinical mentorship.

The group is founder-led by vets who are genuinely passionate about creating opportunities for clinical progression. Whether you’re interested in developing specific interests or advancing through CPD, they’ll invest in your development and support you with equipment upgrades to deliver the highest standards of care.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver comprehensive small animal veterinary care at a busy multi-site practice
  • Collaborate with an experienced team of RVNs and support staff on clinical cases
  • Participate in light Saturday rota work as part of the broader team schedule
  • Engage with case discussions and specialist guidance from the group’s certificate-holding vets
  • Utilise zero-per cent finance plans to support client conversations and ensure best-standard care delivery
  • Contribute to a supportive, vet-led practice culture focused on clinical excellence

Requirements

  • Qualified Veterinary Surgeon (RCVS registered)
  • Proactive approach to clinical work and client care
  • Interest in developing expertise—whether through CPD, certificates, or specialist interests
  • Ability to work collaboratively within a supportive team environment

Benefits

  • Salary up to £72,000 depending on experience
  • 4-day working week
  • Light Saturday rota only (no overnight on-call or out-of-hours duties)
  • £2,000 CPD allowance or certificate funding
  • 5.6 weeks annual leave
  • Perkbox subscription
  • Dental and health cashback scheme
  • Zero per cent practice finance plans to support client care conversations
  • Clinical progression opportunities through CPD and internal advancement
  • Visa sponsorship if required
