Aniwell Veterinary Clinic, Kinson

Veterinary Surgeon – Small Animal

Apply before: Apr 29, 2026

Up to £70,000/yr DOE
Bournemouth, South West
Full Time, Part Time
No OOH
Ready to join a welcoming small animal team where you'll have clinical freedom, no out-of-hours nights, and genuine Saturday mornings only? Aniwell has been serving Bournemouth and Poole for over 20 years—now they're looking for a confident vet to become part of their next chapter.

🕐 Schedule & Rota

No out-of-hours night shifts. 1:5 Saturday morning rota (8:30am–12:30pm) only.

About the Role

You’ll be joining Aniwell Veterinary Clinic as a primary care veterinary surgeon, working across a varied and rewarding caseload of small animals. This is a full-time role with a straightforward schedule: 40 hours per week Monday to Friday on a mix of early and late shifts, plus a manageable 1:5 Saturday morning rota (8:30am–12:30pm). No out-of-hours night shifts required.

Based primarily at the Kinson branch with potential to support the Poole site, you’ll enjoy a healthy balance between consulting and operating days. The role includes some sole charge work, so you’ll be someone comfortable making clinical decisions independently—but you’ll never be truly alone, with a collaborative team always nearby. You’ll have the freedom to work cases thoroughly, with well-established referral relationships in place when specialist input is needed.

Both practice sites are fully equipped with digital X-ray and ultrasound; the Bournemouth branch also offers therapeutic laser and dental radiography. Aniwell is accredited as a Gold Cat-Friendly Clinic.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver high-quality clinical care across medical and surgical cases, including dogs, cats, rabbits, small furries, and occasional wildlife referrals from the local community
  • Work collaboratively with the clinical team (four vets, three RVNs, two SVNs, and practice director) to maintain excellent patient outcomes and client communication
  • Share your clinical knowledge and experience with colleagues, contributing to a positive clinical culture and supporting the development of junior team members
  • Develop your own clinical interests and skills, with support to pursue certificates if you choose
  • Participate in the Saturday morning rota and occasional support shifts at the Poole branch as needed

Requirements

  • Veterinary degree and current RCVS registration (or eligibility to register)
  • Experience working in clinical practice with growing confidence in routine medical and surgical cases
  • Comfort working independently when needed, with sound clinical judgment and decision-making ability
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to build effective relationships with clients and colleagues
  • Proactive approach to learning, openness to feedback, and commitment to professional development
  • Reliability, professionalism, and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team

Benefits

  • Salary & Joining Benefits: Up to £70,000 depending on experience; relocation allowance up to £5,000; welcome bonus up to £5,000
  • Leave & Flexibility: 6.6 weeks’ holiday including bank holidays; part-time and flexible working arrangements available
  • Professional Support: £1,250 annual Care Fund for CPD; access to IVC Evidensia Academy training centres and role-relevant courses; mentors, regional clinical coaches, and peer networks
  • Professional Fees: BVA membership, VDS cover, and RCVS fees covered
  • Health & Family: Private medical insurance; enhanced family leave and pay (maternity, paternity, adoption, surrogacy)
  • Wellbeing & Perks: Reduced-cost veterinary care for your own pets; Cycle to Work and Green Car schemes (eligibility applies); retail discounts and cashback offers
  • Career Development: Clear pathways for progression across primary care, referral, leadership, and specialist roles
