Night shifts only, 1 week on, 2 weeks off rota (7pm–8am). Flexible option to add some daytime shifts if preferred.

About the Role

This is a fixed-term maternity cover position running for 12 months from June 2026, working night shifts on a 1 week on, 2 weeks off rota (7pm–8am, Monday evening through Monday morning). The practice is open to flexibility, so you can discuss blending in daytime shifts if that suits you better.

You’ll be caring for a diverse mix of inpatient species—everything from bearded dragons and rabbits to chickens and penguins. No exotic background required; Anton Vets will support your learning every step of the way. You’ll assist the on-call vet with emergency cases and surgical support as needed, ensuring every patient receives exceptional care.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide compassionate inpatient care for small animals and exotics, monitoring their health and supporting recovery
  • Assist the on-call veterinarian with emergency cases, surgeries, and clinical procedures
  • Maintain the practice environment to the highest standards, ensuring quality facilities and optimal patient outcomes
  • Support the wider clinical team across all aspects of patient care
  • Communicate clearly and confidently with colleagues, clients, and their pets to build strong relationships
  • Contribute to a positive, friendly team culture and take advantage of ongoing training and development opportunities

Requirements

  • Current RCVS registration as a Registered Veterinary Nurse
  • Passion for delivering high-quality patient care and client communication
  • Willingness to learn—exotic experience is not necessary
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a night shift team
