Join a thriving small animal team in central Fleet where you'll work alongside six experienced vets and have genuine support for your professional growth. This is first-opinion practice medicine done right—supportive colleagues, modern facilities, and the freedom to develop your surgical and medical skills.

About the Role

This is a permanent position working 40 hours across four days—a genuine work-life balance in a busy first-opinion practice. You’ll be joining Ark Veterinary Practice, a well-established single-site clinic in the heart of Fleet, North Hampshire, serving a loyal client base in a vibrant market town with excellent transport links to London, Winchester, and Southampton.

You’ll work as part of a six-vet team where clinical discussion is encouraged and colleagues actively support each other’s professional development. The practice is staffed by experienced nurses and friendly student nurses, with a full reception team handling the administrative flow. With modern facilities including two large theatres, a dedicated dental room with dental X-ray, digital radiography, ultrasound, onsite lab equipment, and dedicated physiotherapy and hydrotherapy teams, you’ll have the resources to deliver excellent clinical care.

Fleet is conveniently located for commuting from Farnborough, Farnham, Aldershot, Guildford, Woking, Hook, Basingstoke, Reading, and surrounding areas across Surrey, Berkshire, and Hampshire.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver confident first-opinion consultations and routine surgeries
  • Manage cases independently—both medically and surgically—with clinical support readily available from colleagues
  • Develop your surgical and medical capabilities with encouragement to pursue further qualifications (fully funded)
  • Contribute to a collaborative team culture where cases are regularly discussed and knowledge shared
  • Utilise the practice’s extensive facilities: digital imaging, dedicated dental suite, onsite theatres, and specialised teams

Requirements

  • Registered as a veterinary surgeon with the RCVS
  • Confidence in consulting and routine surgical procedures
  • Willingness to expand your clinical skills and pursue further professional development
  • Based near Fleet/Farnborough or willing to relocate
  • Flexible approach to working patterns—part-time arrangements considered for the right candidate

Benefits

  • Leave & Time Off: 25 days annual leave plus bank holidays (or equivalent) with a buy/sell scheme allowing purchase of up to two additional weeks; extra day of leave annually for your first five years
  • Professional Support: RCVS, VDS, and subscription fees paid; generously funded and encouraged CPD with access to internal and external development courses and programmes
  • Health & Wellbeing: Cycle to work scheme; subsidised gym membership; enhanced maternity, paternity, and adoption pay; Employee Assistance Programme; access to Mental Health First Aid and Wellbeing Champions
  • Financial: Automatic enrolment pension scheme (hassle-free); access to company share-save scheme
  • Perks: Colleague discount on pet products and treatments including free consultations, cost-price drugs, and discounts at the online pharmacy Animed
