About the Role

You’ll be the welcoming face of Ashcroft Veterinary Surgery, building genuine relationships with clients and their pets while keeping the practice running smoothly. This permanent part-time position offers a manageable 26.25 hours per week across Monday to Friday, with Saturday cover on a 1:4 rota. Based in Frodsham’s vibrant community, you’ll work in a small animal practice where your customer service skills really shine—whether answering phones, booking appointments, or welcoming anxious pet owners through the door.

The role spans the full reception experience: client registration, appointment scheduling, phone and email queries, insurance claims processing, medication dispensing, and payment handling. You’ll be the bridge between clients and the clinical team, delivering the warm, empathetic service that keeps people coming back.

Key Responsibilities

  • Answer phones, respond to email enquiries, and manage in-person client interactions with warmth and professionalism
  • Book appointments and manage the practice schedule efficiently
  • Register new clients and maintain accurate client records
  • Process insurance claims and manage client accounts
  • Dispense medications and handle payments
  • Provide support to the clinical team at Ashcroft’s small animal practice

Requirements

  • Previous reception experience is essential
  • Excellent communication skills with genuine empathy for distressed clients and nervous pets
  • Strong customer service background and experience dealing with the public
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and database management systems
  • Resilience and ability to handle potentially emotional situations
  • Positive attitude and proven teamwork skills
  • Veterinary experience is a plus (but not required)
