About the Role

You’ll take on a senior nursing leadership position at Ashfield Vets, working across a friendly, collaborative three-site practice spanning Halifax, Wakefield, and Wibsey. This part-time role (30 hours per week) gives you the perfect balance between clinical work and strategic nursing development—ideal if you’re looking to progress without full-time intensity.

Your days will blend hands-on clinical care with mentoring and performance management. You’ll lead clinical coaching sessions, facilitate team discussions about practice improvements, and ensure the nursing team consistently delivers the high-quality care that defines Ashfield. With 15-minute consultation slots as standard, you’ll have the time to do the job properly—no rushing.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide clinical coaching and mentoring to nursing staff across all three sites
  • Manage nursing team performance and development, identifying training needs and supporting professional growth
  • Ensure consistent delivery of clinical standards and nursing procedures
  • Participate in and lead clinical development meetings, gathering feedback and recommending positive changes
  • Contribute to case discussions and clinical problem-solving with the wider team
  • Support the practice’s commitment to high-quality patient care through nursing excellence

Requirements

  • Current registration as a Registered Veterinary Nurse (RVN)
  • Proven clinical nursing experience in small animal practice
  • Demonstrable passion for professional development and team engagement
  • Strong communication and coaching skills with the ability to inspire and motivate colleagues
  • Commitment to maintaining high clinical standards and continuous improvement
