Ready to join a thriving seven-practice group where your nursing skills are truly valued? This Stratford role offers variety, genuine progression, and a rota that actually works—no burnout, just excellent small animal nursing.

🕐 Schedule & Rota

1:13 weekend rota, 1:10 nights rota, 1:8 Saturday PM, 1:7 Saturday mornings (branch-dependent). Out-of-hours duties based at Warwick hospital. RVN can choose between nights or weekends.

About the Role

Avonvale Veterinary Centres is seeking a skilled Registered Veterinary Nurse to join its friendly, supportive team in Stratford. This full-time, 40-hour position offers real variety: you’ll work across a group of seven primary care practices across Warwickshire, with exposure to advanced cases and procedures that most practices refer elsewhere. The team prides itself on full nurse utilisation, meaning you’ll conduct consultations, manage Schedule 3 medications, and develop genuine expertise alongside experienced colleagues—some of whom have been with Avonvale for over 35 years.

With a manageable 1:13 weekend rota, 1:10 nights rota, 1:8 Saturday PM, and 1:7 Saturday mornings (branch-dependent), you’ll share out-of-hours duties at the Warwick hospital and can choose between nights or weekends. This is ideal for a self-motivated RVN with their own transport who wants work-life balance without sacrificing professional growth.

The practice is backed by a wonderful Patient Care Assistant team, allowing you to focus on clinical nursing while knowing support is there.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide full nursing care across a wide range of small animal cases, from routine procedures to advanced surgical and medical cases
  • Conduct RVN consultations as part of your daily duties
  • Administer Schedule 3 medications and manage related clinical documentation
  • Assist with and perform advanced nursing techniques, supported by the practice’s multiple certificate holders in surgery, imaging, and medicine
  • Collaborate with Patient Care Assistants to maintain the highest standards of patient care and welfare
  • Share out-of-hours responsibilities (nights and/or weekends) as part of the rota system
  • Engage in continued professional development and potentially pursue additional qualifications in areas of interest (anaesthesia, emergency care, behaviour)

Requirements

  • RCVS registration as a Registered Veterinary Nurse
  • Own transport for travelling between branch locations and out-of-hours placements
  • Self-motivated approach to professional development
  • Ability to work flexibly within the rota system (nights and/or weekends)
  • Strong clinical nursing skills and commitment to high standards of patient care

Benefits

  • Competitive salary: £29,120 per annum (depending on experience)
  • 5 weeks holiday plus bank holidays and birthday leave
  • RCVS and VDS fees fully paid
  • External CPD funded, plus extensive free Linnaeus CPD programme delivered by specialists and referral team clinicians (online and in-person)
  • Nurse certificate funding to support further qualifications
  • Private healthcare coverage
  • Enhanced sickness pay
  • Enhanced equal family leave
  • Staff discount schemes
  • Wellness programme including Employee Assistance Programme, eyecare vouchers, annual flu jab, cycle-to-work scheme
  • Recruitment reward scheme
  • Mental Health First Aiders available across the group, plus confidential EAP support
  • Clear career progression opportunities within the Linnaeus group

About the Practice

The group comprises seven small animal practices based across Warwickshire, with over 40 years’ combined experience. The team includes RCVS-qualified vets and nurses with multiple certificate holders in surgery, imaging, and medicine, enabling the practice to manage a broad range of cases internally rather than referring out.

Linnaeus is committed to excellence and operates with a clear purpose: A Better World for Pets. The group carefully partners with practices that share its values and clinical standards, creating a community of like-minded veterinary professionals who are passionate about their work.
