About the Role

Ayres Veterinary Hospital in North Shields, near Newcastle and Sunderland, is seeking a qualified veterinary surgeon to join their dynamic team. This is a full-time permanent position working 40 hours per week with a 1 in 6 weekend day rota—though the practice is happy to discuss flexible arrangements to suit the right candidate. The hospital opened in July 2024 as a purpose-built facility featuring state-of-the-art imaging including CT scanning, plus 24-hour patient care with overnight vet and nurse provision.

You’ll manage a varied first-opinion caseload alongside experienced colleagues and benefit from access to Vet Oracle for expert clinical support. If you’re keen to integrate into the night service (with time off in lieu), the team can accommodate that too. The practice welcomes applications from qualified vets with 3+ years’ experience who thrive in collaborative, forward-thinking environments.
