About the Role

You’ll be at the heart of patient care at Batchelor, Davidson & Watson, a welcoming first opinion small animal practice in Edinburgh. This is a permanent position working 40 hours per week (flexible to part-time applications). You’ll work one in four Saturdays—the team operates Monday to Friday 8:30am–6:30pm, with Saturday shifts 8:30am–2:30pm. No solo charge here; you’ll be part of a supportive team of vets, nurses, PCAs, and receptionists who genuinely care about both patient welfare and colleague wellbeing.

Every day brings variety. You’ll monitor patients’ health, support their recovery, offer reassurance to worried owners, and maintain our facilities to the highest standard. Key Responsibilities

  • Provide exceptional nursing care to patients across all aspects of clinical work
  • Monitor patient health and support recovery outcomes as part of the clinical team
  • Maintain practice facilities and cleanliness standards to ensure quality of care and best patient outcomes
  • Support and mentor junior team members, including PCAs
  • Communicate with confidence—both written and verbal—with colleagues, clients, and their pets
  • Actively engage in ongoing training and professional development opportunities
  • Contribute to a positive, friendly, and supportive team culture

Requirements

  • Current RVN registration with the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons
  • Passion for delivering exceptional care to patients and their owners
  • Strong communication skills and ability to build relationships
  • Willingness to learn, develop, and grow within the role
  • Reliable, professional approach with attention to detail
