Ready to join a supportive small animal team where work-life balance actually matters? This Brighton-based role offers 40 hours over just 4 days, zero out-of-hours commitments, and a practice that genuinely prioritises your wellbeing.

🕐 Schedule & Rota

No out-of-hours, no weekends, no bank holidays. Monday to Thursday schedule only.

About the Role

You’ll be joining Beech House Vet Clinic, a friendly first opinion practice nestled in vibrant Brighton and Hove—a seaside town bursting with culture, excellent transport links to London and Gatwick, and stunning coastal scenery. This is a fantastic base for anyone seeking a mix of vibrant urban life with easy access to countryside and outdoor activities.

Your week will be structured around a 40-hour, 4-day schedule (Monday to Thursday), with dedicated operating days (at least one per week), consultation work, and inpatient care. Best of all: no out-of-hours, no weekends, no bank holidays. You’ll build genuine client relationships with a loyal, long-standing client base and work within a small, tight-knit team of 2 vets and 3 nurses who genuinely support each other.

The practice is looking for an enthusiastic, experienced vet who’s confident in routine surgeries and ideally more complex procedures too—though support is available to help you develop. You’ll be expected to manage some sole charge work at the branch practice, but you won’t be left adrift; the emphasis is on collaborative, supportive veterinary medicine.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct consultations and build relationships with our established client base
  • Lead dedicated surgical operating days (at least one per week), managing routine and more complex procedures
  • Manage inpatient care and monitor recovery
  • Take on some sole charge responsibilities at our branch practice with support available
  • Communicate clearly with clients and contribute to a friendly, professional service
  • Work collaboratively with our 3 nursing team members to maintain high standards of patient care

Requirements

  • Registered Veterinary Surgeon (RVS/RCVS qualified)
  • Several years of experience in small animal practice
  • Competence in routine surgical procedures; ideally confident in more complex surgeries
  • Comfortable working with some degree of sole charge responsibility
  • Team player with a genuine passion for animal and client care
  • Ability to thrive in a supportive, collaborative environment

Benefits

  • Work-Life Balance: 6.6 weeks annual leave, plus additional holiday for your birthday
  • Wellbeing: Private medical insurance, enhanced family-friendly policies (maternity/paternity/adoption/shared parental and surrogacy pay), Cycle to Work scheme, employee wellbeing initiatives, and non-accidental injury support
  • Professional Development: £1,250 CPD allowance with 5 days paid CPD leave (pro rata), certificate support, access to IVC Evidensia Academy, Vetlexicon online encyclopaedia, research funding opportunities, and £1,000 per annum to spend via our Care Fund
  • Professional Support: BVA membership, VDS cover, RCVS registration support
  • Additional Perks: Pawsome Benefits (reward gateway with discounts and cashback), pension (5% employee/3% employer), discounted staff pet care
