Registered Veterinary Nurse

About the Role

This is a fixed-term maternity cover position working as a Registered Veterinary Nurse across Blacks Vets’ hospital and five branches in the Dudley and West Midlands area. You’ll be based on the leafy edge of Birmingham—close enough to enjoy beautiful countryside, yet with easy access to the city’s energy. With a 1:4 weekend rota (with time off in lieu), you’ll have genuine time to recharge between shifts.

You’ll join a team of specialists holding certificates in Cardiology, Medicine, Surgery, Dermatology, Soft Tissue and Orthopaedic Surgery, meaning the caseload is genuinely interesting. Nurses here are heavily involved in all cases and assist with complex procedures, working within an advanced veterinary nursing niche rather than just supporting from the sidelines.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide nursing care across the main hospital and five branch practices
• Assist with complex surgical and medical procedures, including referral-level cases
• Run nurse clinics in smaller branch locations, building rapport with clients
• Work with state-of-the-art equipment including CT scanner, ultrasound, seven endoscopes, and dedicated dental x-ray unit
• Support the multi-disciplinary team in delivering first-opinion and referral-level services
• Contribute to a feline-friendly hospital environment with ISFM-accredited branches

Requirements

• Current RCVS registration as a Veterinary Nurse
• Flexibility to work across multiple practice locations
