About the Role

This is a specialist cardiology position within Blaise Veterinary Referral Hospital, a large-scale multidisciplinary referral centre treating up to 10,000 pets annually. You’ll deliver advanced veterinary care to complex referral cases, providing clinical expertise and support to referring practices across the IVC Evidensia network. The role offers flexibility with an average of 20–30 hours per week, structured on a rota basis or in blocks—with full-time hours available if you’re open to split placements across other hospitals in the network.

Based at a purpose-built 36,000 sq ft facility in Longbridge, Birmingham, the hospital benefits from excellent transport links via the A38 and is part of the wider West Longbridge regeneration project. You’ll be joining a welcoming team of recognised specialists across Internal Medicine, Oncology, Diagnostic Imaging, Neurology, Orthopaedics, Soft Tissue, and Anaesthesia—all committed to collaborative, evidence-based practice.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver specialist-level cardiology care within a referral hospital setting, managing complex cases with autonomy and clinical judgment
  • Provide clinical advice and support to referring veterinary practices across the IVC Evidensia network
  • Collaborate with the multidisciplinary team to deliver outstanding patient and client outcomes
  • Support colleague development through mentoring, clinical supervision, and knowledge sharing
  • Contribute to the efficient running of the cardiology service and maintain high clinical governance standards
  • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives and evidence-based practice development

Requirements

  • Veterinary degree with full RCVS registration
  • RCVS, American, or European Board-Eligible or Board-Certified Diplomate qualification in Cardiology
  • Proven experience working in a multidisciplinary referral hospital environment
  • Track record of mentoring, supervising, or supporting colleagues in clinical settings
  • Demonstrated commitment to evidence-based practice, clinical governance, and continuous improvement
  • Strong clinical expertise and passion for delivering high-quality specialist care
