Night Veterinary Surgeon

About the Role

This is a permanent night veterinary surgeon position at Grimsby Animal Hospital, a Blue Cross facility dedicated to providing quality emergency and critical care. You’ll be working dedicated out-of-hours shifts, supporting animals and their owners during overnight emergencies. Your role will involve assessing and treating acute cases, working collaboratively with the senior veterinary team, and ensuring continuity of care throughout the night.

Based onsite in Grimsby, North East Lincolnshire, this role offers the opportunity to develop expertise in emergency veterinary medicine within a structured, supportive environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide clinical assessment and treatment for emergency cases presenting during night shifts
• Work under the supervision and guidance of the Senior Veterinary Surgeon
• Maintain accurate clinical records and communicate case updates to day-time colleagues
• Contribute to the continuity of care for hospitalised patients
• Uphold Blue Cross’s standards of animal welfare and clinical excellence
• Respond to urgent and critical cases in a timely, professional manner

Requirements

• Registered Veterinary Surgeon with valid RCVS registration
• Experience in emergency and critical care veterinary medicine
• Ability to work independently during night shifts whilst maintaining high clinical standards
• Strong communication skills and commitment to teamwork
• Current professional indemnity insurance or willingness to obtain it
