Registered Veterinary Nurse

About the Role

This is a part-time nursing position at a busy, fully equipped small animal practice in Bradford. You’ll work 21 hours per week across Thursdays and Fridays (8:45am–7:15pm), with no out-of-hours or overnight inpatient responsibilities—ideal for those seeking better work-life balance.

You’ll utilise the full range of RVN skills: patient admissions, anaesthetic monitoring, surgical assistance and recovery, and discharge procedures. The practice is well-resourced with 3 Veterinary Surgeons, 2 fellow RVNs, 1 Student Veterinary Nurse, a Practice Manager, and 4 Client Care Advisors. You’ll be supported by Veterinary Care Assistants and Student Nurses who handle patient prep and theatre turnaround, so you can focus on clinical nursing.

Key Responsibilities

• Patient admissions and pre-operative preparation
• Monitoring anaesthesia during surgical procedures
• Assisting veterinary surgeons with surgical cases
• Post-operative patient recovery and care
• Patient discharge and post-care client communication
• Supporting the nursing team and contributing to a collaborative culture
• Helping cover colleague absences and holiday periods where possible

Requirements

• Current RCVS registration as a Veterinary Nurse
• Solid general nursing experience
• Excellent customer service skills
• Genuine passion for animal welfare
• Positive, down-to-earth, and enthusiastic attitude
• Team player mentality with willingness to support colleagues
