Ready to build a dedicated night team at a brand-new hospital from the ground up? Bramble and Bear is launching its state-of-the-art facility this autumn—join experienced, passionate vets who actually support your professional development and work-life balance.

🕐 Schedule & Rota

7 nights on, 14 nights off rota. Shift hours 8 pm to 8 am with structured handovers. Weekend-only night role also considered.

About the Role

Bramble and Bear is embarking on an exciting expansion with the launch of our brand-new Hospital and Rehab Centre this autumn, and they’re building a specialist night team from scratch. This is your chance to join a practice that genuinely values clinical excellence and work-life balance.

You’ll work a 7 nights on, 14 nights off rota (8 pm to 8 am) with structured handovers at the start and end of each shift to ensure seamless case continuity with the day team. The practice is also open to discussing weekend-only night arrangements if that suits you better. Based in the picturesque Staffordshire Moorlands, you’ll have access to a state-of-the-art facility featuring two fully equipped theatres, a dedicated dental suite, DR X-ray imaging, Doppler ultrasound, and endoscopy—meaning you can manage most cases in-house without the pressure of referrals.

Whether you’re already ECC-qualified or have strong emergency medicine experience with the confidence to manage complex cases, you’ll fit right in. The team actively supports candidates pursuing certificates and encourages you to follow your clinical interests.

  • Commitment to Fear-Free principles and high-standard patient welfare
  • Willingness to engage with the practice’s forward-thinking, evidence-based approach

Benefits

  • Competitive salary: £60,000–£85,000 depending on experience
  • Uncapped CPD budget with full support and funding for certificates
  • Professional fees covered: RCVS, VDS, and BVA/BSAVA memberships

  • Regular team social events and a supportive “family” working environment

About the Practice

Bramble and Bear was founded just over three years ago by Dr Matt Bayliss MRCVS and Dr Hannah Brooks MRCVS, experienced vets who set out to create a forward-thinking practice that combines the best of their collective experience with fresh ideas. What started as a mobile surgical clinic from the back of a car evolved within three months into a fully equipped mobile surgical unit, and by September 2023, the team opened their first hub in the Staffordshire Moorlands.

The practice is Fear-Free accredited and built on a philosophy of affordable, transparent pricing with free consultations and fixed-cost surgery and hospitalisation. The team includes Anna (Head RVN with feline nursing certification), three RVNs, and one SVN, alongside newly qualified vet Iona and final-year graduate Grace joining soon. The practice specialises in small animal medicine with particular interests in internal medicine, ECC, cardiology, and soft-tissue surgery (BOAS, hiatal hernias), supported by regular orthopaedic visits. The new Hospital opens this autumn with two theatres, dental suite, and advanced imaging; the Rehab Centre will offer hydrotherapy, underwater treadmill, and physiotherapy. Once open, the team will operate 24/7, positioned on a working farm with green spaces, a farm shop, and café nearby—the Staffordshire Moorlands offer walking, cycling, and access to attractions including the Roaches, Tittesworth Reservoir, and Alton Towers.
