Bristol Vet Specialists
Apply before: Apr 24, 2026
On-call rota support for the medicine service as part of the role.
Bristol Vet Specialists is seeking experienced veterinary surgeons to strengthen its medicine department. Two full-time positions at four days per week are available, created following the departure of two long-standing specialists. You’ll join an experienced, cohesive team in a purposeful referral-only setting where internal medicine takes centre stage.
The role involves managing a busy hospital caseload, contributing to the training of residents and interns, and participating in on-call rota support for the medicine service. You’ll have access to comprehensive diagnostic and therapeutic equipment, and the practice actively supports research initiatives with funding opportunities available through CVS Research Grants.
Bristol Vet Specialists (BVS) is a large, purpose-built specialist referral hospital located in Bristol and part of CVS Group. The practice offers the full complement of specialist veterinary services including anaesthesia and analgesia, cardiology, dentistry, dermatology, diagnostic imaging, emergency and critical care, neurology and neurosurgery, oncology, ophthalmology, orthopaedics, soft tissue surgery, and clinical nutrition support. The medicine department is particularly strong, comprising three boarded specialists (two ECVIM and one ACVIM), two medicine residents, one medicine intern, four discipline-specific nursing staff, and a patient care assistant. The hospital environment is modern, well-resourced, and designed for collaborative, multi-disciplinary care. The practice actively promotes research engagement and maintains a successful rotating internship programme.
