🕐 Schedule & Rota

In-house dedicated night team provides out-of-hours cover for Calder Vets patients and other local practices. RVN will rotate fairly through bank holidays and weekend rota duties. No sole night on-call expected.

About the Role

Calder Vets Dewsbury is seeking an experienced and motivated Registered Veterinary Nurse to join their established primary care team as a multidisciplinary RVN. This full-time permanent role (40 hours per week) offers the rare opportunity to be fully utilised across all hospital disciplines, rotating fairly through surgery, anaesthesia, medical nursing and nurse-led clinics depending on your interests and strengths.

You’ll work in a supportive team environment where you’re encouraged to develop skills across all areas of nursing practice. The practice operates its own dedicated night team that provides out-of-hours cover for both Calder Vets patients and other local practices, meaning you’ll have access to a diverse range of cases without being expected to work sole nights. You’ll share bank holidays and weekend rota duties fairly with colleagues.

Key Responsibilities

  • Rotate across all nursing disciplines including theatre/anaesthesia, in-patient ward care, medical procedures and running nurse-led clinics
  • Deliver exceptional patient care and support efficient patient flow across the practice
  • Provide anaesthesia and theatre nursing support during surgical procedures
  • Manage in-patient care and hospital ward responsibilities
  • Assist veterinary surgeons with medicine procedures and diagnostics
  • Conduct and deliver nurse-led clinics
  • Work collaboratively with the dedicated night nursing team when required
  • Maintain high standards of clinical excellence and client communication

Requirements

  • Current RCVS registration as a Registered Veterinary Nurse
  • Proven experience in anaesthesia and theatre practice
  • Experience with in-patient care and hospital nursing
  • Experience assisting with medicine procedures
  • Experience running or supporting nurse-led clinics
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Proactive approach with a passion for learning and skill development
  • Comfort working in a busy practice with varied caseload

Calder Vets is a long-established primary care small animal practice based in Dewsbury, West Yorkshire, with eight satellite clinics across South and West Yorkshire. The practice is part of the Linnaeus group (Mars Veterinary Health) and benefits from excellent support through their sister referral hospital, Paragon Veterinary Referrals.
