Calder Vets Dewsbury
Apply before: Mar 15, 2026
No out-of-hours night duties. Dedicated on-site night team handles 24/7 emergency care. Some contribution to weekend day work required.
This is a full-time permanent position for an experienced or newly qualified Veterinary Surgeon with a strong surgical focus. You’ll be joining Calder Vets Dewsbury Hospital, a purpose-built primary care and referral facility in West Yorkshire, as part of a dynamic team that thrives on clinical engagement and professional growth. With no out-of-hours night duties (the practice has a dedicated, on-site night team), you’ll focus on high-quality daytime surgery and primary care, though some weekend day work is required.
Based at the Dewsbury hospital, you’ll work in a modern facility equipped with fully stocked theatres, CT imaging, ultrasound, X-ray, and a dedicated dental suite. The practice runs 15-minute consultation slots as standard, giving you space to deliver thorough, unhurried care. You’ll be part of a large veterinary team supported by exceptional nursing and front-of-house staff, many of whom are pursuing surgical certificates or advanced practitioner credentials themselves.
Calder Vets operates 8 clinics across South and West Yorkshire, anchored by the 24/7 Tier 3 Hospital in Dewsbury. The practice has built a long-standing reputation for clinical excellence, with a strong commitment to both primary care and intermediate referral work. The Dewsbury facility is purpose-built with separate cat and dog reception areas, air-conditioned consulting rooms, spacious staff facilities, and a comprehensive range of diagnostic and surgical equipment including CT, ultrasound, digital X-ray, and dedicated theatres.
Calder Vets is part of Linnaeus, which is owned by Mars Veterinary Health—the world’s largest family-owned veterinary company. The practice prioritises sustainability (recently awarded Investors in the Environment Bronze status), staff wellbeing, and a culture where associates feel empowered to contribute ideas. The team actively engages in clinical discussions, social events, and professional development, with many colleagues pursuing advanced qualifications.
