About the Role

You’ll be joining Calder Vets’ Wakefield site as a Registered Veterinary Nurse, working within an experienced, fully staffed nursing team of RVNs, SVNs, and PCAs. This is a full-time role working 40 hours per week over 5 days, with a manageable 1:4 weekend rota. The practice is committed to maintaining high standards of patient care, excellent client service, and a positive team culture where nursing staff are genuinely utilised and supported to develop their skills.

Based at a primary care small animal practice with a central hospital in Dewsbury and 8 satellite clinics across South and West Yorkshire, you’ll be part of a wider group with access to support from Paragon Veterinary Referrals, the sister referral hospital. This role offers variety across busy small animal practice, with opportunities to take on diverse clinical responsibilities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Running nurse-led clinics independently
  • Assisting veterinary surgeons during consultations
  • Theatre support and anaesthetic monitoring alongside the surgical team
  • Nursing care and monitoring of hospitalised day patients
  • Contributing to the quality of care and client experience across the practice

Requirements

  • Current RCVS registration as a Registered Veterinary Nurse
  • Experience in a busy small animal practice environment
  • Proactive approach with genuine enthusiasm for continuous learning and professional development
  • Commitment to high standards of patient and client care
