No overnight on-call. 1:4 Saturday rota only (8.30am–4pm shifts).

About the Role

This is a permanent full-time position offering a genuine four-day working week with a manageable 1:4 Saturday rota and no overnight on-call commitments. You’ll work shifts between 8am and 7pm Monday to Thursday, with Saturday shifts from 8.30am to 4pm on a 1:4 basis. Based in Farnham, Surrey, Cathcart and Winn is a friendly, well-established practice with a warm community feel where RVNs are genuinely empowered to work to the full scope of their registration.

You’ll be joining a team of 5 vets, 5 RVNs, 1 student veterinary nurse, 3 patient care assistants, and 5 client care advisors—a collaborative environment where every team member’s contribution is valued. The practice actively encourages you to develop your skills across anaesthesia, theatre work, ward nursing, nurse-led consults, and Schedule 3 procedures including suturing, dental work, and scaling and polishing.

Key Responsibilities

  • Monitoring anaesthesia and assisting in theatre procedures
  • Conducting Schedule 3 procedures (suturing, dental charting, scaling and polishing)
  • Managing ward and inpatient nursing care
  • Running and delivering nurse-led consultations
  • Working collaboratively across veterinary, nursing, PCA, and client care teams
  • Providing high-quality animal care and client communication within a supportive practice environment

Requirements

  • Registered Veterinary Nurse (RVN) qualification
  • Team-spirited approach with a genuine passion for quality animal care
  • Interest in developing nurse consult skills
  • Enthusiasm for expanding Schedule 3 procedures competency
