Saturday cover on a 1:6 TOIL (time off in lieu) basis—this is weekend daytime work, not overnight out-of-hours.

About the Role

This part-time receptionist role offers a perfect balance of variety and structure, with 19.5 hours spread across Monday, Wednesday, and Friday shifts, plus Saturday cover on a TOIL (time off in lieu) rota. You’ll be the hub of a busy small animal practice, managing everything from booking consultations and handling payments to coordinating vets’ and nurses’ diaries and processing medications.

You’ll be based at the Norwich Chapelfield branch, which is part of an established group with five practices across Norfolk. The reception team provides cover across all five sites (Norwich, Wymondham, Costessey, Long Stratton, and Brooke), so you’ll get to know a wider network of colleagues and clients. It’s a role with genuine variety and the opportunity to develop real expertise in a busy practice environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Booking in clients and small animal consultations with efficiency and care
  • Processing payments and handling financial transactions accurately
  • Answering telephones and managing client enquiries
  • Coordinating veterinary surgeons’ and nurses’ diaries
  • Handling medication orders and administrative tasks
  • Providing holiday and sickness cover at the four sister practices when needed
  • Supporting the smooth day-to-day running of a multi-site practice group

Requirements

  • Excellent communication skills and a friendly, professional manner
  • Strong time management, problem-solving, and organisational abilities
  • Good computer skills and ability to learn new systems quickly
  • Full UK driving licence (required for flexibility across multiple sites)
  • Local knowledge of Norfolk is beneficial but not essential
  • Initiative and confidence in a fast-paced environment
