About the Role

You’ll be joining Cherrydown Vets as a Veterinary Surgeon in a daytime-only position with no out-of-hours commitments – perfect for those seeking genuine work-life balance. Working alongside the Lead Vet and Clinical Nursing Manager, you’ll deliver high-quality care to patients across both medicine and surgery, with a dedicated day reserved for theatre work. The practice is well-equipped with a large imaging suite, new X-ray machine, laparoscopy kit, 5 consultation rooms, 2 operating theatres, and separate cattery and kennels. Based in Basildon with excellent public transport links and accessibility from Essex and parts of London, you’ll also benefit from flexible working arrangements tailored to the right candidate.

This Essex clinic has strong connections with specialist hospitals, including Southfields Referrals, giving you access to a network of expertise when you need it. A real bonus: you can bring your pet to work thanks to available kennel space.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide consultation and medical care across a varied caseload alongside the Lead Vet
• Conduct surgical procedures with a dedicated theatre day each week
• Work collaboratively with the Clinical Nursing Manager and nursing/support team to ensure quality patient outcomes
• Engage in knowledge-sharing and ongoing professional development within the team
• Support referral pathways and specialist hospital collaboration as needed

Requirements

• RCVS registered Veterinary Surgeon
• Ideally 3+ years of post-qualification experience in both surgery and consultations
• Enthusiastic team player with genuine interest in learning and skills development
• Commitment to collaborative, high-quality patient care
