About the Role

Join Coastway Veterinary Group’s purpose-built hospital in Brighton as a Registered Veterinary Nurse on a 12-month fixed-term contract (maternity cover), starting June 2026. You’ll be working in a busy, well-equipped 24-hour facility that receives varied emergency and advanced medical cases from five branch practices and local referrals. The role offers a rare combination in hospital nursing: full-time hours (37.5 per week, Monday to Friday) with no weekends and no on-call duties – giving you the clinical variety of hospital work without the unsociable schedule.

The team is well-resourced and collaborative, with multiple certificate holders, diverse clinical interests, and specialist services including orthopaedics, ophthalmology, advanced imaging, and exotic medicine. You’ll have access to state-of-the-art facilities: dedicated cat, dog, exotic, isolation, and day procedure wards, plus a fully equipped in-house laboratory.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide high-quality nursing care across a range of medical and surgical cases in the hospital setting
  • Support the referral services team across orthopaedics, ophthalmology, advanced imaging, and exotic cases
  • Manage care within dedicated specialty wards (cat, dog, exotic, isolation, and day procedure)
  • Contribute to maintaining RCVS-accredited standards across the hospital
  • Work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary nursing and support team
  • Participate in the development and mentoring of junior nursing staff

Requirements

  • Current RCVS registration as a Veterinary Nurse
  • Proven experience working in a hospital environment with confident management of medical and surgical cases
  • Excellent nursing and communication skills with a genuine commitment to animal welfare
  • Strong organisational and multitasking abilities; ability to prioritise and remain calm under pressure
  • High attention to detail
  • Commitment to ongoing professional development and clinical excellence
  • Demonstrated interest in supporting and developing team members
