Registered Veterinary Nurse

About the Role

This is an exciting opportunity to join a thriving independent small animal practice in West Surrey that’s been delivering excellent care for over 20 years. You’ll be joining a close-knit team on maternity cover, with strong potential to transition into a permanent position once the current nurse returns. The role is full-time with no overnight on-call duties—just one Saturday morning in five—so you can maintain a genuine work-life balance.

The practice is Silver Cat Friendly accredited and handles a diverse caseload including routine health checks, travel documentation, diagnostics, imaging, endoscopy, dentistry, surgery, myotherapy, and end-of-life support. You’ll work alongside visiting specialists in orthopaedics and cardiology, plus an on-site dentist and myotherapist, giving you exposure to varied and interesting cases throughout your week.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide hands-on nursing care across all aspects of the practice, from routine procedures to more complex cases
• Support diagnostic and surgical work including imaging, endoscopy, and dentistry procedures
• Assist with patient recovery and end-of-life support services
• Deliver excellent client communication and patient care as part of a collaborative team
• Contribute to the practice’s Silver Cat Friendly clinic protocols and standards
• Work alongside 3.5 vets, 3 nurses, a veterinary care assistant, and the reception team

Requirements

• Qualified Registered Veterinary Nurse (RVN)
• Minimum 3 years’ experience working in UK veterinary practice
• Strong communication skills and client-facing confidence
• Ability to thrive in a busy, collaborative environment

Benefits

• Salary: £30,000–£36,000 per year depending on experience

The team includes 3.5 veterinary surgeons, 3 registered veterinary nurses, a veterinary care assistant, and dedicated reception staff—all working collaboratively to deliver high-standard care. The practice benefits from visiting specialists in orthopaedics and cardiology, plus on-site dental and myotherapy services, creating a comprehensive care environment.

Located in West Surrey with excellent transport links to Guildford, East Horsley, Aldershot, Farnborough, Godalming, Woking, Epsom, Horsham, Petersfield, and Staines-upon-Thames, the practice serves a wide catchment. The team is close-knit, with the newest staff member having been there over three years, and they’re genuinely excited to welcome a new RVN to the group.
