About the Role

You’ll be the welcoming presence at the heart of Craemill Veterinary Clinic’s reception team, working 31.5 hours per week (9:00am–6:15pm Monday–Friday, with Saturday rota shifts) across two busy clinics in Magherafelt and Cookstown. This part-time permanent role sits you at the intersection of client care and clinical operations, where every interaction helps pets and their owners feel looked after.

You’ll work alongside 10 vets and 15 nursing and support staff who are dedicated to providing exceptional small animal, farm, and equine care to the local community. Northern Ireland’s close-knit veterinary sector means you’ll build genuine relationships with regular clients while mastering the practice management systems that keep everything running smoothly.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage appointments and client registrations using the practice management system, keeping records current and accurate
  • Assess urgency when booking emergency appointments and triage calls appropriately
  • Process payments, print invoices, and handle end-of-day reconciliation
  • Advise clients on preventative care topics—neutering, vaccination, flea and worm treatments—based on developing clinical knowledge
  • Maintain stock levels, order drugs and food, and restock dispensary and consulting rooms
  • Handle general clerical duties: filing, photocopying, scanning, and document management
  • Liaise with courier services and laboratories to ensure timely sample collection and delivery
  • Manage repeat prescriptions and pet insurance queries in line with practice policies
  • Keep reception and front-of-house areas clean, tidy, and welcoming
  • Uphold Health & Safety protocols at all times

Requirements

  • Minimum Grade C in GCSE English and Maths
  • Good communication and IT skills
  • Understanding of confidentiality and professional boundaries
  • Personable and empathetic approach to clients and colleagues
