About the Role

This is a senior leadership opportunity combining hands-on clinical nursing with dedicated management time. You’ll work across six established practices in the Huntingdon area, partnering closely with the Clinical Director, Group Nursing Manager, and fellow CNM to drive consistent nursing standards and excellence. Your role balances mentoring and line management with regular clinical shifts—you’ll lead by example, working alongside your team in delivering outstanding patient care.

Weekends are shared on a rota with time off in lieu, and you’ll benefit from the practice’s dedicated night team supporting 24/7 continuity of care. This is hands-on leadership in a genuinely supportive environment with high staff retention and a collaborative culture.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead, coach and mentor RVNs, SVNs and PCAs
  • Line manage Lead Nurses and Branch Nurses, supporting their professional growth
  • Maintain and develop consistent SOPs across branches
  • Oversee nursing standards, clinical areas and quality across the practice
  • Plan and support CPD, training and professional development initiatives
  • Lead on governance, clinical safety and quality assurance within the nursing team
  • Foster effective communication, workflow optimisation and team engagement
  • Manage drug and consumables ordering with a consistent approach across branches
  • Work clinically alongside your team, setting standards through direct practice
  • Shape the future direction of nursing services and nursing-led clinics

Requirements

  • Registered Veterinary Nurse (RVN) with current registration
  • Minimum 5 years’ practice experience, with at least 2 years post-registration
  • Proven experience in line management, staff leadership and professional development
  • Strong clinical standards and genuine commitment to patient care excellence
  • Interest in nursing clinics and nursing-led services
  • Excellent communication, organisational and leadership skills
  • Ability to balance clinical and managerial priorities with a proactive, collaborative approach
