Approximately 4 out-of-hours on-call shifts per year, shared fairly across the nursing team. 1 weekend day in 4 with time off in lieu.
Cromwell Vets Huntingdon is seeking an experienced Registered Veterinary Nurse to join a thriving small animal practice across their six-site network in Cambridgeshire. You’ll work full-time on flexible shift patterns (either 4 x 10-hour days or 5 x 8-hour days, between 7:30am and 9:30pm), with just one weekend day in four and minimal out-of-hours commitments—approximately four on-call shifts per year, shared fairly across the team.
Your role will rotate across inpatient care, theatre, client-facing clinics, and emergency and critical care (ECC), with active encouragement to develop ECC skills. If you enjoy consulting, the practice can accommodate regular clinic days. You’ll be part of a dedicated nursing team of 4 Lead Nurses, 22 RVNs, and 4 SVNs, all supported by 5 PCAs. Huntingdon itself is well-connected yet surrounded by green space, offering an ideal balance between town convenience and countryside tranquillity—with easy access to Cambridge and London.
Cromwell Veterinary Group Huntingdon has been established for over 100 years, serving Cambridgeshire with primary small animal care across six unique sites. The main hospital is a 24-hour facility supported by smaller branch locations, each with its own community identity but a shared commitment to patient care. The practice is well-equipped to referral level, featuring ultrasound, endoscopy, orthopaedic facilities, laparoscopic spay equipment, and a full imaging suite—meaning nurses are consistently exposed to a wide and stimulating caseload.
Cromwell Vets is part of Linnaeus, which is owned by Mars Veterinary Health. This global affiliation brings access to a network of over 70,000 veterinary health associates and expert resources, creating significant opportunities for career growth and continuing education. The practice values professionalism, friendliness, and community engagement, with strong staff retention and a culture of regular team events including BBQs, pumpkin carving competitions, and bake offs.
