About the Role

Cromwell Vets Huntingdon is seeking an experienced Registered Veterinary Nurse to join a thriving small animal practice across their six-site network in Cambridgeshire. You’ll work full-time on flexible shift patterns (either 4 x 10-hour days or 5 x 8-hour days, between 7:30am and 9:30pm), with just one weekend day in four and minimal out-of-hours commitments—approximately four on-call shifts per year, shared fairly across the team.

Your role will rotate across inpatient care, theatre, client-facing clinics, and emergency and critical care (ECC), with active encouragement to develop ECC skills. If you enjoy consulting, the practice can accommodate regular clinic days. You’ll be part of a dedicated nursing team of 4 Lead Nurses, 22 RVNs, and 4 SVNs, all supported by 5 PCAs. Huntingdon itself is well-connected yet surrounded by green space, offering an ideal balance between town convenience and countryside tranquillity—with easy access to Cambridge and London.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver high-quality nursing care across consultations, inpatient care, theatre work, and emergency and critical care settings
  • Support and mentor junior nursing staff, with the option to pursue Clinical Coach accreditation
  • Work flexibly across both the main 24-hour hospital facility and smaller branch sites
  • Rotate through diverse caseloads including routine, emergency, and advanced surgical cases, utilising referral-level equipment
  • Contribute to a collaborative, team-focused nursing environment that values learning and shared success

Requirements

  • Small animal RCVS Registered Veterinary Nurse qualification
  • Ideally 1+ years post-registration experience
  • Team player who thrives in busy, varied settings
  • Willingness to support and mentor others; open to becoming a Clinical Coach
  • Passion for delivering excellent nursing care across all areas of practice
  • Flexibility to work across hospital and branch sites
