Ready to join a close-knit team where your work-life balance actually matters? Crooks & Partners in Rotherham is looking for a GP Vet for a one-year fixed-term role – flexible hours, modern facilities, and the kind of supportive environment where you'll genuinely want to stay.

About the Role

This is a one-year fixed-term contract opportunity to join Crooks & Partners, a well-established practice beloved by its multi-generational client base. You’ll work flexibly across 25–40 hours per week on a schedule designed around genuine work-life balance – rota patterns are genuinely negotiable here, and the team prioritises getting it right for you.

Located in Rotherham and easily commutable from Sheffield, Doncaster, Chesterfield and surrounding areas, this role welcomes both full GP Veterinary Surgeons and those interested in consultations-only work. You’ll inherit a varied, interesting caseload and have genuine freedom to develop your own clinical focus and interests with the backing of an engaged management team.

The practice is equipped with digital radiography, ultrasound, dedicated dental facilities with intra-oral x-ray, and a comprehensive in-house laboratory (biochemistry, haematology, urinalysis, and cytology). You’ll be supported by a friendly, experienced clinical team: 4 vets, multiple RVNs, SVNs, PCAs, and receptionists all committed to high-quality care.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver first-opinion small animal care across medical and surgical cases
  • Perform diagnostic investigations, surgical procedures, and routine check-ups with clinical confidence
  • Develop expertise in case types you’re passionate about, with encouragement to expand your clinical scope
  • Support and mentor team members – contributing to a culture of learning and progression
  • Build lasting relationships with clients through compassionate, reassuring consultations
  • Work collaboratively with a close-knit team of 4 vets and experienced nursing and support staff

Requirements

  • RCVS registration as a Veterinary Surgeon
  • Confidence in managing both medical and surgical small animal cases
  • Commitment to providing high-quality patient care and client communication
  • Enthusiasm for ongoing professional development and deepening clinical skills
  • Team-focused mindset with natural mentoring and collaborative instincts
  • Open to flexible working arrangements and rota negotiation

Benefits

  • Salary up to £63,000 per annum (dependent on experience)
  • RCVS and VDS fees paid in full
  • Generous CPD allowance including BSAVA library access (450+ courses) and fully funded postgraduate qualifications (CertAVP, PgCert) with tuition, exams, and study leave
  • Up to 33 days annual leave with the option to buy/sell additional days
  • CVS Pension scheme
  • Access to Vet Oracle telemedicine specialists and Advanced Clinical Services Network for case support and mentoring
  • Health cash plan and Employee Assistance Programme
  • Wellbeing Champions network and enhanced family leave policies
  • 50% staff discount on veterinary services, MiPet food and medications
  • Flexible rota patterns negotiable to suit your needs
