🕐 Schedule & Rota

No OOH or on-call required. Weekends shared on 3:7 rota (pro-rata for part-time). Vets Now host practice.

About the Role

Crossroads Veterinary Centre is a thriving three-site small animal practice serving High Wycombe, Hazlemere and Watlington. You’ll be joining a team that values clinical variety and professional autonomy, with your time split mainly between the High Wycombe hub and your nearest branch, with occasional cover across all sites. This is a full-time 40-hour role over four days (8–8:30am starts, finishing 6–7pm), though part-time applications are welcome. Weekends are shared fairly on a 3:7 rota (pro-rata for part-time), and as a Vets Now host practice there is no OOH or on-call—giving you genuine work-life balance.

High Wycombe is a vibrant market town offering countryside charm alongside excellent transport links to London, Oxford and the Chilterns. You’ll have access to great shops, restaurants, green spaces and scenic walks—ideal for those wanting balance, connectivity and quality of life.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage a varied caseload of cats, dogs, rabbits and small furries with a slight consult bias

  • Conduct thorough case work-ups using in-house facilities, ensuring excellent continuity of care
  • Work autonomously at branch level while maintaining supportive contact with the wider team of 8 vets and 7 RVNs
  • Contribute to a collaborative, mentoring culture across the practice

Requirements

  • Qualified Veterinary Surgeon with current registration
  • Experience in small animal first-opinion practice (branch sole-charge work requires confidence and clinical competence)
  • Genuine interest in delivering high-quality case work and developing expertise
  • Ability to work both autonomously and as part of a supportive team

Benefits

  • Salary & Relocation: Up to £75,000 depending on experience, plus up to £5,000 relocation allowance and up to £5,000 welcome bonus
  • Work-Life Balance: 6.6 weeks’ holiday including bank holidays, plus your birthday off; no OOH or on-call
  • Wellbeing: Private medical insurance, enhanced family-friendly leave and pay, 24/7 confidential Employee Assistance Programme
  • Professional Development: £1,250 CPD allowance plus 40 hours paid CPD annually; certificate and advanced learning support; access to Vetlexicon online resources and world-leading IVC Evidensia Training Centres; £1,250 annual Care Fund for every vet
  • Professional Memberships: BVA membership, VDS cover, and RCVS fees covered
  • Colleague Perks: Cycle to Work and Green Car schemes (eligibility applies), retail discounts and cashback offers, reduced-cost veterinary care for your own pets
  • Accommodation: Available if required
