No nights, no chaos, just quality small animal medicine in beautiful Somerset. Delaware Vets prioritises your work-life balance and gives you the clinical freedom to develop your surgical interests with a genuinely supportive team.

🕐 Schedule & Rota

No out-of-hours or on-call duties required; standard inpatient care only

About the Role

Join Delaware Veterinary Group, a collaborative two-practice operation serving the West Country with a genuine commitment to clinical excellence and work-life balance. This small animal veterinary role is daytime-only with no out-of-hours or on-call duties—just standard inpatient care as needed. Based primarily at the Yeovil site with flexibility to work across both locations, you’ll be part of a team that values open communication and mentorship.

The practice is well-equipped with digital and dental radiography, ultrasound, endoscopy, and in-house laboratories. If surgery excites you, this role offers a high caseload across dogs, cats, and rabbits, with real opportunities to develop specialist interests and take on informal mentoring of less experienced colleagues.

Opening hours are 8:30am to 6:30pm Monday to Friday, and 8:30am to 1:00pm Saturdays. The practice is genuinely flexible about contracted hours and working arrangements—whether you want full-time, part-time, or a bespoke schedule that suits your lifestyle, they’re open to discussion.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver high-quality primary small animal clinical care across a busy caseload
  • Lead and support surgical cases, with opportunity to develop and specialise in surgical interests
  • Mentor and support less experienced veterinary surgeons within the team
  • Collaborate with colleagues to maintain clinical standards and support patient care
  • Flexible working across the Yeovil and second Delaware site location as required
  • Engage with ongoing professional development and clinical learning

Requirements

  • Qualified veterinary surgeon (RCVS registered)
  • Strong clinical knowledge and confidence in small animal medicine and surgery
  • Excellent communication skills and collaborative approach to teamwork
  • Willingness to be flexible across both practice locations
  • Passionate about veterinary care and patient welfare
  • Experience level: all qualified vets welcome, from recent graduates to experienced practitioners

Benefits

  • Generous Leave: 6.6 weeks’ holiday including bank holidays, plus your birthday off
  • Financial Support: Salary up to £70,000 DOE, welcome bonus up to £5,000, relocation allowance up to £5,000
  • Professional Development: £1,250 CPD allowance plus 40 hours paid CPD annually, access to IVC Evidensia Training Centres, certificate and advanced learning support, Vetlexicon online resources
  • Health & Wellbeing: Private medical insurance, 24/7 confidential Employee Assistance Programme, enhanced family-friendly leave and pay
  • Professional Memberships & Fees: BVA membership, VDS cover, RCVS fees paid
  • Care Fund: £1,250 annual Care Fund for every vet
  • Colleague Perks: Cycle to Work and Green Car schemes (eligibility applies), retail discounts and cashback offers, reduced-cost veterinary care for your own pets
