About the Role

DentalVets is Scotland’s only specialist veterinary dental and oromaxillofacial referral centre, and they’re expanding their talented team. Your caseload will encompass the full spectrum of advanced dentistry and oral surgery: complex endodontic procedures, oral and maxillofacial surgeries, expert clinical advice to referring practitioners, and contributions to the centre’s respected CPD teaching programme. This role offers genuine scope to develop specialist expertise whilst maintaining excellent work-life balance—the hospital is closed at weekends, and you’ll benefit from generous holiday allowance and funded professional development.

Key Responsibilities

  • Diagnosis and treatment of complex oral and dental conditions in dogs and cats
  • Advanced dentistry and endodontic procedures using cutting-edge equipment
  • Oral and maxillofacial surgical cases
  • Providing expert clinical advice to clients and referring veterinary practitioners
  • Contributing to CPD teaching and knowledge-sharing within the specialist referral network
  • Working collaboratively within a 12-person team including specialist anaesthetist, board-certified dentists, and dedicated nursing staff

Requirements

  • Board-Certified Veterinary Dentist™ or completed AVDC/EVDC Residency
  • Genuine passion for all aspects of dentistry and oral surgery
  • Strong teamwork and mentoring ethos
  • Excellent communication skills with clients and referring practitioners

About the Practice

DentalVets is Scotland’s premier specialist veterinary dental and oromaxillofacial referral centre, based in Haddington, East Lothian. The practice is part of IVC Evidensia, the UK’s leading veterinary services group. The team comprises 12 clinicians: a specialist anaesthetist, board-certified veterinary dentist, board-eligible dentist, a dual-certificate holder in dentistry and surgery, and a nurse undertaking the AVDT VTS (dentistry) qualification. The culture is built on collaboration, mentorship, and mutual support, with regular in-house CPD sessions and team-building activities.
