🕐 Schedule & Rota

Daytime shifts only (8am–8pm); no night-time or out-of-hours duties. Weekends worked on a 1:4 rota.

About the Role

This is a full-time position with Dignipets Midlands, a specialist home euthanasia practice based in Stafford. You’ll be providing dignified, compassionate end-of-life care to pets in their own homes—meaningful work that makes a real difference to families during difficult times. The shift pattern is specifically designed around work-life balance: you’ll work 13 daytime shifts spread across a 28-day cycle, averaging just 39 hours per week with weekends on a 1:4 rota. This is not a high-pressure emergency role; it’s structured, supported, and focused on quality care.

You’ll be driving to appointments across the region, working independently but as part of a genuinely supportive team. The practice values empathy, clear communication, and a client-centred approach—qualities that matter just as much as clinical skill in this speciality.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver high-quality end-of-life veterinary care to animals in their home environment
  • Communicate compassionately and clearly with pet owners during sensitive consultations
  • Maintain accurate medical records and documentation for all cases
  • Drive to client appointments across the Staffordshire area
  • Collaborate with the team to ensure consistent, supportive service delivery
  • Contribute to a caring, mission-driven practice culture

Requirements

  • MRCVS registration (UK veterinary surgeon)
  • Strong bedside manner and excellent communication skills with pet owners
  • Confidence working independently and driving to multiple locations
  • A genuine passion for providing dignified end-of-life care
  • Team player with a caring, empathetic approach

Benefits

  • Schedule: 13 daytime shifts per 28-day cycle (8am–8pm), averaging 39 hours per week
  • Weekends & Bank Holidays: 1 in 4 rota (not every weekend)
  • Holiday: 5.6 weeks annual leave
  • Overtime: Paid at premium rates
  • Professional Development: CPD fully funded (both in-house and external)
  • Professional Memberships: VDS, RCVS, and IAAHPC fully paid
  • Specialist Training: Hospice certificate funded for the right candidate
  • Pension: Company pension scheme
  • Support: Full training and ongoing mentoring from experienced team
