Discipline Specific Intern – Neurology

About the Role

This is a rare opportunity to spend a full year immersed in veterinary neurology and neurosurgery at a leading referral centre. You’ll work alongside a specialist team of three ECVN Diplomates, gaining exposure to complex neurological cases whilst building the clinical foundation needed for future residency applications. The role combines case management, direct supervision, and structured learning in a supportive environment.

Based at Eastcott Veterinary Referrals in Swindon—a specialist referral hospital with modern facilities and a genuine commitment to clinical excellence—you’ll have access to teaching seminars, journal clubs, and Linnaeus-wide CPD opportunities. You’re also encouraged to participate in clinical research projects with potential for publication.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist the senior neurology team in case management and facilitate case flow through the service
• Take primary responsibility for referred neurology cases under direct supervision
• Participate in neurology rounds, teaching seminars, and journal club discussions
• Contribute to clinical research projects for publication
• Work alongside two dedicated neurology service nurses and a patient care assistant

Requirements

• Completion of a 12-month rotating internship (or equivalent training pathway)
• Current RCVS membership and eligibility to work in the UK
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Strong interpersonal and organisational abilities
• Genuine interest in neurology and neurosurgery as a career path
