Neurology & Neurosurgery Intern

About the Role

This is a prestigious one-year fixed-term internship in veterinary neurology and neurosurgery at Eastcott Veterinary Referrals, a leading referral centre within the Linnaeus group. You’ll be embedded within a specialist neurology service staffed by three ECVN Diplomates, two dedicated neurology nurses, and a patient care assistant, giving you unparalleled access to high-quality clinical teaching and case exposure.

You’ll have primary responsibility for referred cases under direct supervision, participating actively in neurology rounds, teaching seminars, and journal clubs. Beyond the core neurology service, you’ll access Linnaeus-wide CPD opportunities and senior mentorship, with the option to contribute to a clinical research project for publication—positioning you competitively for residency applications.

Key Responsibilities

• Facilitate case flow through the neurology service and manage referred cases under direct supervision from ECVN Diplomates
• Participate in daily neurology rounds, teaching seminars, and journal club discussions
• Assist in diagnostic and surgical procedures under the guidance of experienced specialists
• Develop clinical case notes and contribute to patient records
• Engage with clinical research opportunities and support publication of findings
• Build relationships with referring veterinarians and support the referral pathway

Requirements

• Completion of a 12-month rotating veterinary internship (or equivalent structured training programme)
• Current membership of the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons (RCVS)
• Right to work in the UK
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Strong interpersonal and organisational skills
• Genuine interest in advancing your knowledge in neurology and neurosurgery
