About the Role
Eastcott Veterinary Referrals is seeking an experienced Clinical Director to lead all aspects of clinical quality, operational efficiency, and team development at their ISFM gold-status multidisciplinary referral hospital in Swindon. This is a full-time leadership position where you’ll set strategic vision, foster a high-performing culture, and directly influence clinical practice across a tier-3facility with recently upgraded state-of-the-art equipment and facilities.

Based in Swindon, which borders the Wiltshire countryside whilst offering excellent transport links to London, the South West, and the Midlands, you’ll have access to both quality of life and connectivity.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead clinical strategy, quality delivery, and operational efficiency across the hospital, ensuring the team works collaboratively to achieve high-quality outcomes focused on safety, timeliness, effectiveness, efficiency, and person-centred care
- Develop and inspire a high-performing clinical team through effective communication, change management, and a focus on attraction and retention of skilled associates
- Design and implement lean, customer-centred systems and processes that enhance quality clinical care and governance controls, including risk assessments, audits, and quality improvement activities
- Create a culture of professional development, supporting CPD, student placements, residency and internship programmes, and clinical research whilst ensuring RCVS compliance
- As a member of the Senior Leadership Team, contribute to annual budgets and financial targets including revenue, payroll, stock, consumables, and cost control
- Build effective relationships with referring veterinarians through clear communication, outcome correspondence, and competitive CPD support
- Identify market opportunities, clinical positioning, and growth strategies using metrics and market intelligence to develop business cases for service expansion
- Ensure compliance with statutory, legal, and regulatory requirements (RCVS, GDPR, Health & Safety, RCVS PSS, ISFM Cat Friendly Clinic standards)
- Carry out clinical duties as a veterinary specialist
Requirements
- Demonstrable clinical expertise in referral practice, capable of carrying out clinical duties as a veterinary Specialist
- Proven leadership experience managing clinical teams and driving organisational change
- Strategic mindset with ability to balance clinical quality, operational efficiency, and commercial performance
- Experience with clinical governance, quality improvement, and regulatory compliance
- Strong communication and relationship-building skills across teams, clients, and referring vets
- Ability to develop and deliver vision, engage stakeholders, and foster collaborative culture
