🕐 Schedule & Rota

Monday to Friday rotating shifts only (7am–3pm, 9am–5pm, 12pm–8pm); no night shifts or out-of-hours on-call mentioned.

About the Role

You’ll be at the heart of the surgical theatre, supporting a dedicated soft tissue and orthopaedic surgery team. This is a hands-on, full-time position where you’ll work closely with experienced vets, nurses and technicians to deliver safe, efficient surgical care. You’ll find clear protocols, structured routine and the satisfaction of contributing directly to patient outcomes – with plenty of procedural variety to keep you engaged.

Based at Eastcott Veterinary Referrals’ modern facility in Swindon, you’ll work rotating shifts (7am–3pm, 9am–5pm, or 12pm–8pm) across a 40-hour week, Monday to Friday. This is a 12-month fixed-term contract role ideal for someone who thrives on precision, teamwork and being relied upon.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist with patient handling and restraint, showing awareness of individual temperament
  • Prepare patients for soft tissue and orthopaedic surgical procedures
  • Prepare, clean and maintain theatres and surgical areas to infection control standards
  • Pack surgical kits and manage autoclaving in line with practice protocols
  • Care for and maintain surgical instruments, including specialist orthopaedic equipment
  • Maintain accurate records of soft tissue and orthopaedic surgical kits
  • Support infection control through cleaning, laundry and waste disposal
  • Monitor stock levels and manage ordering of supplies
  • Assist vets, nurses and wider team as required during procedures and daily operations
  • Attend and contribute to practice meetings
  • Undertake training and development to meet personal and practice objectives
