About the Role

End Cottage Vets is seeking a caring, motivated receptionist to join the front-of-house team in Howden. This is a 30-hour per-week permanent role, offering flexibility between weekday and weekend shifts. As often the first point of contact with clients, you’ll be the practice’s human face—balancing efficiency, empathy, and professionalism as you help pet owners and support the clinical team behind the scenes.

Your schedule will include weekday shifts (08:00–15:00 or 12:30–19:30) plus Saturday mornings on a 1:3 rota (08:00–13:00 or 08:00–14:30). The role blends customer care with smooth administrative operations, ensuring nothing falls through the cracks.

Key Responsibilities

  • Welcome clients and visitors to the practice with a friendly, approachable manner
  • Answer telephone calls, relay messages, and provide caring customer care advice
  • Book appointments and process client requests using the practice management system, maintaining accurate patient records for the clinical team
  • Administer prescription requests for internal and external pharmacies
  • Process payments, generate invoices and receipts, and liaise with the clinical team on correct charging
  • Keep the reception area clean, tidy, welcoming, and fully stocked

Requirements

  • Reception or client care experience
  • Ability to work independently
  • Strong organizational and communication skills (implied by role nature)
