Veterinary Internship – Surgery

About the Role

This 12-month surgical internship offers recent graduates or newly qualified vets the chance to develop advanced surgical expertise in a dynamic, supportive referral setting. You’ll work on a structured 3-week rotating pattern: one week in theatre supporting surgeons during complex procedures, one week conducting consultations and follow-ups in the hospital, and one week on-call from home (7pm–8am Monday to Sunday, plus Saturday and Sunday hospital shifts 7:30am–7:30pm).

Hospital-based weeks run Monday to Friday, 8am–7pm. You’ll participate in surgical procedures, manage post-operative discharges, conduct re-check appointments, coordinate imaging, and compose referral letters. During on-call weeks, you’ll support the out-of-hours team and scrub into theatre for emergency cases. Note: the facility handles referral patients only during OOH hours, not general emergency cases.
