Veterinary Surgeon

About the Role

You’ll be joining Goddard Uxbridge as a part-time associate veterinarian, working a flexible 2-day week schedule (Thursdays and Fridays, with Friday being a full 8-hour shift). This is a first opinion general practice role with rota responsibilities: 1:3 Saturday branches and 1:8 Sunday shifts working alongside the Mandeville Hospital team, plus 1–2 bank holidays per year. Importantly, there are NO on-call overnight requirements for this position. If you’re interested in moving to full-time hours, the practice is open to exploring additional days at another nearby practice in the region (such as Acton).

Uxbridge itself offers the best of both worlds—green spaces to the west and easy access into central London to the east. The practice sits just a 15-minute walk from Uxbridge Underground station on the Metropolitan line, putting you within reach of King’s Cross, Farringdon, and Liverpool Street. The practice premises are spacious and flooded with natural light, featuring 3 consultation rooms, generous kennel and prep areas, and an on-site theatre, plus ample parking—a genuine rarity for London veterinary sites.

You’ll be supported by an established team including a senior vet, experienced RVN staff, and trainee nurses. A regional head vet is also available for additional clinical guidance, and complex cases can be referred to Goddard Mandeville Veterinary Hospital in Northolt for out-of-hours care and specialist support.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct thorough veterinary consultations, performing clinical examinations and making evidence-based management and treatment recommendations in line with Goddard Vet Group protocols
• Perform general practice surgery within the scope of your competence and overnight care limitations
• Maintain accurate, comprehensive clinical records and ensure pet histories are useful for colleague referrals and continuity of care
• Manage all prescription, dispensing, and medication use in compliance with current medicines legislation and RCVS guidance
• Refer cases appropriately and promptly to Goddard hospitals when cases fall outside your scope or require specialist attention
• Contribute to a respectful and collaborative team environment across the practice

Requirements

• Qualified veterinary surgeon registered with the RCVS
• Experience in first opinion general practice
• Ability to work within your scope of competence and accept appropriate referral pathways

• Salary: £38,000–£61,000 per annum (full-time equivalent, 40 hours per week; pro-rated to part-time hours)

Goddard Uxbridge is a well-established first opinion practice serving the local community in suburban West London for many years. The practice is part of Goddard Vet Group, which operates multiple branches and Mandeville Veterinary Hospital (located in Northolt) for specialist referrals and out-of-hours emergency cover. The Uxbridge branch is a generous-sized facility with modern amenities including multiple consultation rooms, dedicated kennel and prep areas, theatre facilities, and on-site parking.

The team is structured to support general practice work, with experienced senior vets, RVNs, and trainee nurses working collaboratively. Regional clinical leadership is available, and the practice benefits from the broader Goddard Vet Group resources and referral network.
