This part-time veterinary surgeon position at Chalfont St Peter offers genuine flexibility in how you structure your working week. With an average of 20.12 hours per week, you’ll balance weekday consultations with a manageable 1:3 branch Saturday morning rota and 1:8 hospital Sunday rotation—plus just one bank holiday per year at the Mandeville Hospital. Located in a peaceful, picturesque village within easy reach of London, Chalfont St Peter punches above its weight for a first opinion practice. The surgery boasts three consultation rooms, separate dog and cat wards, and ultrasound facilities. You’ll work alongside another experienced vet every day—never sole charge—supported by two long-standing vets, a senior RVN, and a strong nursing and reception team. The broader Goddard Vet Group safety net includes the 24-hour Mandeville Veterinary Hospital in Northolt, equipped with CT, advanced ultrasound, scopes, and specialist support.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct thorough consultations, examining pets and making evidence-based management and treatment recommendations in line with practice protocols
  • Perform surgery on appropriate cases within your competence and scope, respecting overnight care limitations
  • Manage, prescribe, and dispense medications in accordance with current medicines legislation and RCVS guidance
  • Maintain accurate, comprehensive clinical records that support continuity of care for colleagues
  • Refer cases promptly to Goddard hospitals when appropriate, ensuring seamless specialist support
  • Contribute to a respectful, collaborative team environment across the practice

Requirements

  • Qualified veterinary surgeon registered with the RCVS
  • Experience in first opinion GP small animal practice
  • Evidence-based approach to clinical decision-making
